- Claudio Fronterre, Lancaster University – A spatial time series modelling approach for tracking COVID-19 cases in England at the Lower Tier Local Authorities level
We invited applications from Early Career Researchers to present health data research at HDR UK’s Scientific Conference, 23rd June 2021.
This high-profile session is back by popular demand. Speakers will be shortlisted by an independent panel and will be invited to provide a as a 4-minute lightning talk at the HDR UK Scientific Conference, 23rd June. The best talk on the day was voted by the audience.

Lightning talk – on the day
The talks will be 4 minutes long and should be illustrated with a single static slide. As the Conference will be entirely online, lightning talks will be delivered by Zoom. The audience will vote on the winning talk on the day.
Prizes
Recognition – A trophy will be awarded to the winning talk
Development – The winning talk will receive:
- A professional virtual training session of choice in team building, leadership skills, resilience, or personal well-being delivered by a highly experience trainer – in addition to a tailored consultation and follow-up with HDR UK’s Learning and Development Manager.
- A mentoring session from a choice of HDR UK Executive Committee Members including Cathie Sudlow (linked health data, research, and academia), Melissa Lewis-Brown (science strategy, funding, and impact), and Gerry Reilly (technical collaboration, open source software, technical career development).
Visibility- The top 5 talks will have a professionally written case study featured on HDR UK’s website and promoted on our social media channels. Opinion pieces will be developed with all speakers invited to present at the Scientific Conference. The articles will be published on the HDR UK website, included in conference communication material and provide an overview of the shortlisted research.
