Join us for this months webinar which is entitled ‘Hospital admissions and SARS-CoV-2 infection in children: a cohort study of 3.2 million in England.’

We are pleased to announce we will be joined by Professor Kate Brown from Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and University College of London (UCL) and Dr Chris Tomlinson from UCL.

Professor Kate Brown has been a consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at GOSH for more than 20 years. Professor Kate has a Masters in public health and is the Centre Lead for Outcomes of Children’s Cardiovascular Disease and Critical Illness at the Children’s Institute of Cardiovascular Science, University College London (UCL). Kate’s research interests lie in critical illness, including long-term impacts, and parent and child experiences of critical illness.

Kate and Chris will speak about findings from a recent paper, published on 5th July 2023, outlining the impact of COVID-19 on children across England. This study – undertaken as part of the BHF Data Science Centre CVD-COVID-UK/COVID-IMPACT Consortium – looked at 12 million childhood health records across England during the height of the pandemic, and analysed 3.2 million cases of coronavirus infection. The study reveals the extent of severe outcomes in children during the pandemic and could inform public health policies.

This webinar will be chaired by the BHF Data Science Centre’s Research Project Manager, Rouven Priedon.

These webinars are aimed at the research community, but all are welcome.
