Each month, the HDR UK Early Career Committee selects one winning open access publication or pre-print to be crowned ‘Publication of the Month’ on the basis embodying Health Data Research UK’s ambitions and values. We are now inviting new members onto the Committee. See the Early Career Committee page to find out more about the Committee and the Publication of the Month page for Publications of the Month to date.

If you are within the first eight years (full-time equivalent) of your career (including post-graduate training if applicable), and a HDR UK member (in receipt of funds from HDR UK or otherwise directly involved in HDR UK activities), then you are eligible to apply to be on the Committee. We take an inclusive approach to defining ‘early career’, taking into consideration any career breaks, maternity leave, part-time working etc, so if in doubt, please contact us.

If you are interested in being on our Early Career Committee then email Hollydawn Murray with your: name; institution; Health Data Research UK affiliation; area of expertise and research interests; key career dates to satisfy the ‘early career’ eligibility; a 100 word biography; a head-shot photo; and 100 words on why you’re applying by 16:00 UTC on 12 February 2021.

We’ll be looking for people 1) who understand the Health Data Research UK mission and values, as well as 2) enthusiasm! This will be on a voluntary basis and time commitment estimated to be around one afternoon per month. Meetings are virtual so no travel required.  Selection of committee members will be made by Health Data Research UK Central staff in line with the two criteria above.

The founding members of the Early Career Committee were shortlisted for HDR UK Team of the Year 2020, alongside three other teams. Read more about their work and why they were nominated here.
