The HDR UK Futures virtual learning platform has gone from strength to strength since its launch last year – and we are now making changes to enhance it further.
For those who are unfamiliar HDR UK Futures – it is our virtual learning environment offering free on-demand, expert-led training and learning, covering an ever-growing number of topics in health data science.
Right now, it has well over 1,500 users and features 81 bite size videos organised into a dozen different learning pathways. The quality is high with an average video star rating of 5.
Rather than resting on our laurels HDR UK wants to keep improving what it offers to users. That includes adding features to make it more personalised and help users keep track of their training progress.
So, from this week, when someone logs on (or registers) they are greeted by a fresh and inviting welcome page along with new features including the:
- Chance to earn badges for completed training
- Ability to see recent activity, hours of training and completed courses
- Opportunity to add and edit playlists.
It will also recommend videos that users might like based on their interests, and will let them browse featured content and the most popular content.
Rosie Wakeham, Head of Training at Health Data Research UK (HDR UK), said:
“HDR UK Futures is developing fast with new content being added all the time, but we want to make sure that it also provides the best possible user experience. The improvements we have just made will take it to the next level, and that’s just Phase 1.
“We realise it can be difficult for people to track down the training they need, so in the summer of 2022 we’ll be introducing a new signposting facility that will mean they can spend less time searching and more time learning.”
The signposting facility will offer a one-stop-shop to find out about the learning and training offered by HDR UK as well as a range of external providers. A big benefit will be the ability to filter by type, subject, provider and location to find anything from PhDs, master’s degrees, online courses and live webinars.
