We would like to welcome our new students who have started their PhDs in Health Data Science. The HDR UK-Turing Wellcome PhD is a four-year programme which includes one year of foundational training, followed by a three-year thesis project and aims to develop future leaders in health data science.
There are seven new students who are registered at five partner universities:
- University of Birmingham
- University of Cambridge
- University College London
- University of Manchester
- University of Oxford
This programme also gives the opportunity to draw on expertise around the country through the HDR UK-Turing partnership. The new students will cover a huge range of subjects within the syllabus including machine learning, reproducible science, data ethics, epidemiology and bioinformatics. These topics will be explored fully in conjunction with our underlying philosophy that health data science requires a combination of expertise spanning the three fundamental areas: statistical, computational and health sciences.
We welcome our new cohort, who come from a range of different disciplines and can’t wait to find out more about what they are working on in the coming months and see them develop into health data science leaders of the future.
The new cohort is as follows:
- David Brind, University of Birmingham
- Claire Coffey, University of Cambridge
- Haoting Zhang, University of Cambridge
- Tianxiao Wang, University of Manchester
- Fabian Falck, University of Oxford
- Eloise Withnell, University College London
- Emma Whitfield, University College London
