Alice Norton joined UKCDR in April 2020 to lead their COVID-19 Research and Policy work and the development of COVID CIRCLE.

Alice had previously worked with UKCDR directing projects mapping and analysing research activities in Africa for the SCOR Board and as a senior adviser to GloPID-R developing their data-sharing roadmap and broader preparation activities for supporting research during epidemics and pandemics.

Alice has substantial experience of global health research, policy, and funding gained through nine years with Wellcome. At Wellcome, she led the development of a new Global Health Insight and Analysis function as well as helping develop Wellcome’s global health strategy and funding. Prior to working at Wellcome, Alice was a Programme Manager for the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative in Tanzania working with the Ministry of Health on implementation and evaluation of neglected tropical disease control programmes.

Alice teaches on the University of Oxford International Health and Tropical Medicine Masters Course. She gained her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford and completed her PhD and postdoctoral research associate work in infectious disease epidemiology at Imperial College London.
