Balint has a background in academia and data science, graduating in Biochemistry and getting his PhD from the University of Manchester. During the pandemic, he was seconded from UCL to the Joint Biosecurity Centre (the data analytical arm of the Test and Trace programme) to work on central government’s response to the pandemic. Here he became interested in the power of using large, linked, administrative and other sensitive data to understand the complex interactions between people’s health and social context and environment (housing, education etc.) for evidence-based policy, joining Administrative Data Research UK in July 2021 to enable better use of this data.
He is excited to build on this work at the DARE UK programme and contribute to efforts to design and create a federated data infrastructure for safely sharing and linking cross-domain data to support research for the public good.
