Dame Julie Moore is currently a non-executive director at Worcester Acute Hospitals, a non-executive advisor to Our Health Partnership, a member of the Novartis UK Industry Council and a Trustee of the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund. She also chairs the Mental Health and Productivity Pilot in the Midlands.
Following a variety of posts in clinical practice and management, Julie became CEO of University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) in 2006 with the Trust being named as a Global Digital Exemplar in 2013. At the request of the Secretary of State, Julie then led UHB teams to help improve five struggling NHS Trusts.
After retiring from full time work in the NHS in 2018, Julie undertook several roles including Professor of Healthcare Systems at Warwick Manufacturing Group, Warwick University, a member of the Organising Committee for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and an adviser to Newton Europe Consulting. She has contributed to many national projects including:
- Lead for Education reforms as part of the Government’s Future Forum
- Independent member of The Office for the Strategic Coordination of Health Research
- Member of The Dalton Review into New Models of Hospital Provision
- Chair of the HSJ Commission on Hospital Care for Frail Older People
- Founder member and past Chair of the Shelford Group (the association of the ten leading academic hospitals in England)
Julie’s accolades include being made a Dame Commander of the British Empire (2012), invited to an Honorary Chair at Warwick University (2013), recognised in the first BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour list of the UK’s 100 most powerful women, and acknowledged in the Health Service Journal’s most influential clinical leaders, top CEOs and a national LGBT role model in health. She has Honorary Doctorates from the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, Oxford Brookes University and Aston University.
