Debs joined Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) in July 2022 as Communications and Content Officer. Her role is to oversee HDR UK’s communication channels, optimising and curating content to engage researchers, data custodians, and the public in the institute’s work.
Debs has over five years’ experience in communications, predominantly in the public sector. After her studies in biomedical science, then a master’s degree in Science Communication, Debs joined the Medical Research Council. During this time, she communicated the impact of taxpayer-funded research to a wide range of audiences through print, digital channels, and social media.
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) was subsequently formed and, following a change in approach to communications across the organisation, Debs moved into the UKRI Content Team. There she managed the social media presence for two complex organisations, as well as developing a wide range of engaging content for digital and social channels.
