Karen Hunter is a Research Project Manager in the BHF Data Science Centre, her work spans a number of thematic areas, including Enhancing Cohorts.  Prior to joining the BHF Data Science Centre, Karen was an Operations Manager for the HDR UK BREATHE Hub at the University of Edinburgh where she was responsible for the efficient and effective programme management of all aspects of the Hub operational activities.

Initially, Karen joined HDR UK in 2020 to work as a Project Manager for the International COVID-19 Data Alliance (ICODA), where she was responsible for ensuring “Driver projects” were planned and delivered on target.  Prior to joining HDR UK, Karen was Manager at the James Mackenzie Institute for Early Diagnosis, where she played a key role in establishing and managing programmes of work in Health Data Research, Primary Care and Public Health for The University of St Andrews.  Karen’s previous experience includes working for 10 years as Research Manager for the Child and Adolescent Health Research Unit at the University of St Andrews and building and coordinating the School of Medicine’s Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement Group.

Karen holds a BSc and MLitt in Management from the University of St Andrews.
