Kate joined the British Health Foundation Data Science Centre as Communications and Events Manager in May 2022 after a 5 year stint as PR and Media Manager for Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. In her previous role, Kate worked across a wide range of health areas, achieving widespread international news coverage for medical research stories including Covid-19 vaccine effectiveness.

Kate has a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Cambridge and worked in industry and at the MRC Dementias Platform UK before focusing on science communication. Kate is a recipient of the Royal Society of Biology Science Communication Award and enjoys weaving engaging stories from the exciting science that takes place within at HDR UK. She is a member and previous committee member of STEMPRA (Science Technology Engineering and Medicine PR Association) – the UK’s network for science communication professionals.
