After receiving a DPhil in Chemistry, I joined the electronics and telecommunications industry. I spent much of my working life in Research and Development roles, including managing a pan-European project within an EU research initiative. I took early retirement from my role as Director of Product Development. Subsequently, I became involved in business mentoring and also spent 10 years working with people with learning disabilities.

I became involved in PPI activities several years ago and have been involved in a wide range of NIHR and UKHSA projects and committees, so have a wide experience on how data is being used in UK medical research. This has led to me becoming very interested in how researchers access data and also in how the type of data required is changing to meet new treatment demands.
