Tony is a senior consultant in financial services with experience in economic, financial and climate impact modelling using large, complex data sets in a highly regulated environment. He has also worked in civil engineering and the public sector including the UK government Ministry of Justice.

From facilitating workshops relating to new water treatment works to helping design banking systems, Tony has championed public/customer involvement. Caring for family members with long-term health conditions he’s seen the positive use of health data, along with privacy issues and other problems.

Tony is particularly interested in the curation of data sets for training and testing machine learning and artificial intelligence. This has tremendous potential and risks including unrepresentative data, implicit bias and inability to determine clear rationale of decisions based on automated processes and systems.

Tony has supported Public/Patient involvement activities for NICE, NIHR and Cancer Research UK. He is keen to build on this experience as a member of the HDR UK Public Advisory Board.
