Dr Rich Fry is a geographer with an MSc and PhD in Geographic Information Systems and Science. Rich leads on integrating spatial data with anonymised health data for HDR UK Wales and NI and the National Centre for Population Health and Wellbeing and leads the ‘Health and Wellbeing’ research for ADR Wales. Rich specialises in geographic modelling of socio-environmental phenomena at population level and anonymised spatial data linkages and has worked on a range of projects including examining the impacts of alcohol and fast food availability on population health, neighbourhood walkability and type 2 diabetes, the role of road infrastructure on cycling injuries and the impact of blue and green spaces on common mental health disorders.

Externally Rich represents Higher Education on the Association of Geographic Information (Cymru) board, sits on the Housing Spine Analytical Resource for Welsh Government and represents the SAIL Databank on the Swansea Bay University Health Board Joint Scientific Review Committee. Rich is an affiliated research fellow at Monash University, Australia and the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD).
